FLORIDA STATE FLORISTS ASSOCIATION (FSFA) STATE
ACCREDITATION PROGRAM
"FLORIDA STATE
MASTER DESIGNER" (F.S.M.D.) FSFA is now offering an Accreditation
Program to those who want to continue their floral education. This program
will show your customers that you are concerned with your continuing
education in floral design.
The credential will help market yourself and your business. You
may use the F.S.M.D. addendum after your name to show that you have
worked hard for this accreditation.
This
Program gives the Master Designer the following:
1. Learning experiences
for the designer. Advanced knowledge of care and
handling of product. Advanced
knowledge of design techniques and correct mechanics in design.
2. Credentials showing your
customers your achievements in the floral industry.
3. The addendum F.S.M.D.
may be used to market yourself and your shop and to advertise your belief
in continuing education in our industry. You
must maintain yearly membership to Florida State Florist Association to
retain and market your credentials. Non-shop owners must
maintain an individual yearly membership to Florida State Florist
Association to retain and market your credentials.
A workshop will be your first step
toward testing for Florida State Master Designer. Completion of the
workshop is optional, for testing at the Annual Convention or
Mid-Season Conference session. The cost of the workshop is
$100.00. The next workshop will
take place at the Florida State
Florists' Annual Convention, June 9,
2006 at the Belleview Biltmore Resort and Spa in Clearwater, Florida.
The workshop begins at 8:00 A.M.
Your second step is testing.
There will be a two-part test. First part is a written test from
the material you receive and the second part is creating three designs (announced
the day of the test) in specific categories. For those who just
want to take the test, you now do not have to take the workshop. The
next testing will take place at the Florida State Florists' Annual
Convention, June 9, 2006 at
the Belleview Biltmore Resort and Spa in Clearwater, Florida.
The testing begins at 1:00 P.M.
Applications
for both workshop and testing will be available from FSFA Directors,
local wholesalers, Wire Service Representatives, or available on the FSFA
Website below.
Upon receipt of the below information and payment, Winnie Cross,
Chairperson of FSFA Accreditation Program, will mail the testing packet
to you. The package will contain Care
and Handling information, color chart, flower identification chart, and
Design Techniques and Principles packet.
Upon
successful completion of testing and confirmation of membership in
Florida State Florists Association, you will receive at the FSFA Annual
Convention during the President’s Dinner, a plaque, pin, and a certificate
of achievement. A news release is sent to your local newspaper to recognize your
achievements in the floral industry.
